I’m Becky Funk. As a former high school teacher and a mom who has navigated the trenches of teen anxiety personally, I bridge the gap between "I don't know how to help my kid" and "My kid is thriving."

How We Do It: The Stand Strong System

We don't just talk about feelings; we take action using my 3-part framework:

1. Know Who They Are We stop the shame spiral by becoming aware of who they are. Using tools like the Enneagram, we uncover why they do what they do so they stop thinking they are "broken."

2. Handle Their Crap Anxiety is physical. I teach them "physical therapy for the nervous system"—practical tools to calm the racing heart and spiraling thoughts so they can think clearly again and become resilient.

3. Stand Up for Themselves We turn "reactive" (screaming/crying) into “advocacy” (communicating needs). They learn how to set boundaries and handle difficult conversations with confidence.

Teens are biologically wired to pull away from their parents at this stage. As a coach, I am a neutral, trusted third party.

  • I’m not there to judge their grades or nag about chores.

  • I am there to be their teammate.

Frequently Asked Questions

"My teen is resistant to coaching. What if they won't talk?" This is my specialty. I don't stare at them and ask "And how does that make you feel?" for an hour. We use humor, activities, and focus on their interests to break the ice.

"We are so busy with sports/school. Do you have time?" I offer evening and weekend slots specifically for busy teen schedules. Virtual sessions mean they can hop on a call from home without you having to drive.

"Is this therapy?" No. Therapy often looks backward at the past. Coaching looks forward. We focus on the "now" and the "future"—building the skills they need to handle next week's test, the prom drama, and the college transition.
